The best way to pay and maintain your highest Spend Power is to pay inside for the exact amount you plan to fuel up with. This way, your Spend Power will never be reduced by more than the actual transaction amount.

If you fuel up at the pump, we want to make sure that you don't experience a negative balance in your linked bank account when using your debit card at the pump. When paying at the pump, the gas station merchant authorizes a higher amount and then adjusts to the actual amount after you finish fueling. This process can take a few hours or days to complete, depending on the merchant. To prevent this from affecting your linked bank account, Extra will temporarily limit your Spend Power by $70 until the authorization is reversed. This can take up to 3 business days, but don't worry - your Spend Power will be restored immediately after the reversal is complete.
